Mexico

The United States and Mexico enjoy a large and dynamic trading relationship: Mexico is currently the United States’ 3rd largest trading partner. This partnership has been fostered by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), to which Canada is also party. Mexico and the United States are also currently negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement with nine other member countries. In 2012, US goods exports to Mexico totaled USD 216 billion while US goods imports from Mexico reached USD 278 billion. The resulting balance of trade is a US deficit of USD 62 billion. Top US goods exports to Mexico include machinery, electrical machinery, mineral fuel and oil, vehicles, and plastic. The most common US goods imports from Mexico include electrical machinery, vehicles, machinery, mineral fuel and oil, optic and medical instruments.
