Thanks to the support of the Standards Alliance, a public-private partnership between the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), residents of the West African village Abobo-Baoulé in Cote d’Ivoire are sowing the seeds of sustainable development in their community. In Senegal, the partnership supports an initiative to train solar photovoltaic (PV) technicians in accordance with relevant international standards in communities that live without power.

In recognition of the importance of standardization and conformity assessment to the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is pleased to announce that the Standards Alliance Phase 2 (SA2), as part of its public-private partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will specifically address the COVID-19 response and recovery. To date, USAID has committed more than $1 billion to help fight the virus pandemic around the world, and ANSI is pleased that the critical role of standards that support public health and safety will be recognized with $3.5 million of federal funds and corresponding private sector funds obligated to the SA2.

The event, titled “Evidence-based Regulatory Decision Making: the role of RIA and Public Consultation,” was co-hosted by Zambia’s Business Regulatory Review Agency (BRRA).
Training focused on promoting the use of regulatory impact analysis (RIA) in the Zambian regulatory system and providing practical training for Zambian regulators on RIA implementation.
